Tramping

So its 2020, Covid 19 Lockdown has lifted and I managed to travel down to Devon to see my family for the first time in months. I wanted to catch up with friends as well and what better way to do that, than with a small hike and camp.

This was only a short walk in fairness, leaving Meldon at around 1330 and arriving just below Lints Tor at just before 1600. Walking out with Mike, remaining socially distant at all times and then later joined by James, Mole and Robin.

I packed 11.5-12kg in the Alpine prototype and was very impressed with how it carried. I have a few tweaks to make before I am totally happy and a few ideas for this and other packs.

The evening was filled with jokes, whiskey and food. I carried both wet and dry to try and get the pack weight up so enjoyed olives as well as a cheese board with my whisky with chocolate and other bits.

Dinner was pork loin with peppers and a meal I will be buying again. It was very very tasty and just right for such a hot day.

My shelter was a Tramplite I bought from Colin in January but up until now, I’d only managed to use it in the garden. I also used a custom apex 67 quilt from Valley and Peak which proved to be spot on as I knew it would be.This morning we broke camp around 1030 and bimbled back to the car.Hopefully more miles next time and less of a gap between outings.
